1. Were very excited to see the cows return to the field out back.

2. Ate twice our weight in raspberries. After using them as a finger puppet, because that’s the best way to eat them.

3. Gave Mahler 72 kisses.

4. Wore our new, super awesome trucks, cars and tractors t-shirt. Oh the joys of staring at your own reflection.

5. Had lunch out with Mom & Dad to celebrate being a super kid for 17 whole months..

6. Read with Daddy. A lot.

Art with Toddlers

Finger painting with a 17 month old is one of those things that seems like a great idea in your head and ends up being a crazy messy experience.

Did he love it? Yes. But was he covered in paint? Yes. And did he try to eat the paint? Yes. (Note his blue lips, thank goodness for safe paints!) And did I spend longer cleaning up afterward then we spent actually painting? Yes.

So was it worth it? Definitely yes. This is not however the kind of thing we’ll do every day!

The masterpieces. Hung in the kitchen with pride. Is he a budding Mark Rothko? Jury’s still out.

Ps. This calls to mind a terrific documentary we watched a while back. I totally wanted to believe that she was painting them. Does that make me naive?

Mm, Mm, Mmm: Making meals more fun

fun food

As Sam gets a little older and WAY more active, meal times are sometimes fraught. A scroll through Pinterest (love) is brilliant for coming up with fun ideas to make healthy foods more exciting – and hopefully hold their interest at the table just a little longer.

Here are a few we’re going to try….
